Extracurriculars

Black Student Union
The Black Student Union is important because I believe students need cultural and academic support. We engage in Social Justice organizing, sharing our culture with others and holding each other responsible for a standard of excellence. Our goal is to uplift our student community and help establish other BSU clubs.
MemberCommunity Service & Volunteering
Martin Luther King Jr Freedom Center
The Freedom Center strives to uplift communities in the East Bay through community outreach, civic engagement, and the development of strong youth leaders from our own communities. I learned about need-based service and how to engage with community members respectfully. Some of the skills I acquired include public speaking, speechwriting, and encouraging civic engagement. During voter outreach, I met people with different political views from mine. I had to learn to listen to them and communicate, even when we disagreed.

Delta Academy and GEMS
Delta Gems is a youth development program that empowers young black women to become successful leaders. We participate in self-improvement and professional development workshops. We attended lectures by several established women of color from different industries. I acquired skills such as healthy study habits and stress management.
MemberGreek Life
PG&E Economic Equity Program
This Upward Bound program provides advanced financial education to students from low-income backgrounds. Professors and financial career professionals teach personal finance, wealth creation, financial data analysis, and the importance of investing. I seek and value programs like this to end the cycle of poverty in my family.

La Clinica de la Raza
La Clinica is a community-based organization. We advocate and provide health care services for the East Bay. It was influenced by the philosophies of Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chavez; community residents advocated for high-quality health care. I spoke to my community about the various types of health care and available resources. I served the community through projects displaying the effects of tobacco and alcohol use. I discussed mental and physical health and their significance. Most importantly, I educated people about ways to stay safe during COVID-19.

Chipotle Mexican Grill
I ensured the restaurant runs smoothly. I prepare in-person and online orders and answer any questions about the menu. I make sure the ingredients are stocked and kept fresh during my shifts. I also clean tables, floors, and windows. I must comply with all food safety policies.
